Reception End of Year News

5th July 24

We have had a fabulous end to our busy year in Reception.

We had a fun packed day out to Bekonscot Model Village with Form I and  Form II .  We went straight into a workshop where we discovered the differences between toys from the olden days and toys that we play with now.  We also got a chance to dress up and play in a make believe station. We pretended to be guards and passengers and had fun playing on the typewriter and old fashioned telephone.  Next it was our turn to head to the station to take a ride on the Bekonscot train.  We enjoyed a picnic lunch in the sunshine before having some time to explore the model village.  We particularly enjoyed spotting the trains and watching them stop at the stations before disappearing under bridges only to appear further along.  We also found the large gold fish in the pond fascinating to watch and thought it was very funny when they jumped out of the water and landed again with a huge splash!

After our visit we made our own model village in the classroom in time for the Sports Day classroom displays.

During Activity week we enjoyed playing at the Little City. We were construction workers, police, hairdressers , vets and much more!

On Tuesday we enjoyed a visit from a real life author called Ellie Irving.  She read us a story about an Armadillo called Oh Armadillo.

We then went to have fun at the Mini Maths Market organised by the Form VI girls. We had great fun trying to win prizes on each stall and were all very successful. Thank you to Form VI for organising such a fun time for us all. We spent the afternoon cheering everybody on while we watched the teachers play rounders against the Form VI girls.

On Wednesday morning we listened to some stories that were read to us by the older girls then in the afternoon we put on our pyjamas and went onto the field to have a disco and play in the sprinklers at the York house Pyjama party!

We have had a wonderful year in Reception and are looking forward to our Summer holiday before starting the next step in our exciting journey when we move up to Form I!
