100% PASS RATE
HUGE CONGRATULATIONS
At the end of the very warm and extremely busy, Summer Term, 77 students took LAMDA Exams in Introductory Level 2, Reading for Performance – Entry Level and Verse and Prose Entry Level, Grade 1 and Grade 2. The girls all worked with dedication and commitment, and we are proud to announce a 100% PASS rate with 65% of the girls achieving the highest level of Distinction!
Thee girls love it, but what is LAMDA?
The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) is one of the oldest drama schools in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1861, it quickly established itself as a centre of excellence in performance training. It boasts some very famous actors as alumni. Including Benidict Cumberbatch, Jim Broadbent and Chiwetel Ejiofor to name just a few.
The exams are great way for children to gain skills in speaking clearly and with good diction. Learning the skills of public speaking and helping to develop confidence and courage.
Great if they aspire to a career as an actor or in the entertainment industry but also so valuable for being able to stand in front of a board meeting or for interview skills.
LAMDA at St Hilda’s is a very popular, extra-curricular activity. Students from Form II through to Form VI can opt to join and it is taught in break times, lunch and before school. Students take exams, twice a year.
Examiners come to St Hilda’s to spend a day, individually examining each child. Each child performs their rehearsed pieces. Then we wait…. After what seems like forever we get the results, with each child getting an examination report, with good points and constructive advice about how to improve.
Then finally, each child is awarded with a certificate from LAMDA as a record of their achievement!
